Attractions at the Biltmore Estate
You are invited to come play in a backyard that stretches over 8000 acres of the vast Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina. Summertime activities include horseback riding, biking, Segway tours, fly fishing, and hiking, to name a few. As if this wasn’t enough, take strolls through the breathtaking gardens – a work of art harmonizing God’s amazing creation and the dominion mandate He gave to mankind.
Come inside to beautiful shops filled with gifts, keepsakes, confections, home accents, books about the Vanderbilt family and their era, old-fashioned toys and games, jewelry, and all-American arts and crafts. You are sure to find “something for everyone” at the Biltmore Estate – don’t forget to take home tangible reminders of the precious family memories you are making!
There are many special events offered at various times of the year at the Biltmore Estate, not the least of which is the first-time ever Chihuly Nights at Biltmore, a display of stunning glass art by world-renowned American artist Dale Chihuly.
Lodging for Your Vacation at the Biltmore Estate
But what about where to stay? While some prefer to stay on the Estate, others prefer finding a room in the nearby city of Asheville. But let us suggest that you visit Peachtree Cove RV Park as the place you call home during your time in WNC. We are located a beautiful 2 hours drive from the Biltmore Estate, which in itself is a self-guided tour of our beautiful region. Some may view the drive “into town” as a setback to their vacation, but at the end of a long, full day of sightseeing, it is far more attractive to get out of the city and relax in a small town that offers more of the same breathtaking views minus the dust and chaos of the city.
What a beautiful retreat from the busy and noisy chaos of life the Great Smoky Mountain National Park has proved to be to countless scores of people. From misty mornings that are full of refreshing anticipation to the comforting warmth of a summer day and the crowning glories of evening, the GSMP is a haven for those seeking refreshment and rest from the “daily grind.”
The GSMP features a striking diversity of wildlife including hundreds of species of birds, fish, reptiles, and amphibians, in addition to what may be the two most attractive sights of all: black bears and elk. There are numerous opportunities to enjoy God’s spectacular creation from the hiking trails that snake through this spectacular mountain range.
Perhaps the most well-known destinations in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park is Cades Cove – a rich valley that has been circled with a one-way paved drive for tourists to leisurely see the sights at their own pace. The Cove features a European settlement dating from around 1820. The area has a wealth of history enclosed in the walls of the many 19th century buildings which include log homes and barns, three churches, and a working grist mill. If you prefer biking or walking to driving a motor vehicle, there are special times that the Cades Cove loop is closed to motorists to allow bikers and pedestrians time to enjoy the park at their own convenience.
If you are looking for a place to stay while visiting the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, consider dropping in for a visit at Peachtree Cove RV Park, located near Murphy, NC just over an hour’s drive from the GSMNP. Let me add here that it is a beautiful hour’s drive, and well-worth the time in and of itself. Give us a call at (828) 557-2722 to make your reservation, and don’t forget to check out our offered amenities to see how your stay with us can be enhanced. What better way could there be to celebrate a holiday than to gather for a picnic? Even though it rained sporadically throughout the day, Saturday was a delightful day for a picnic at Peachtree Cove RV Park. Ideal temperatures. Fun conversations. Delicious food. The pavilion made a perfect gathering place, and we enjoyed the time with our guests.
With honor and gratitude to those who have given their all, and to their families, we wish you all a happy Memorial Day!
Spring arrived yesterday. Or at least that’s what the calendar says. According to our weather, it looks like spring was trying to come, but has been temporarily delayed for a few moments of quiet snow. Oh the beauties of the times and seasons, and the wonders that our Creator God puts in front of our eyes every day!
Wahoo! At long last we are now up and running and ready for guests. Call for reservations at (828)-557-2722.
